Just over a year has gone by since we found her. That was an exciting time – as the post illustrated 'We Found Her!' along with the twists and turns we took to get there. It reminds me of Hall’s Beach, at Northcote Point, where Grandad and the two sisters grew up. The beach where the Two Sisters was first launched. As kids, we’d walk along the beach and turn over the small rocks to see if we could watch a crab or two scurry away and into the mudflats.
Scott messaged this morning – actually – messaging from Vancouver he was a few hours ahead of me. I didn’t know it was him, but with a bright moon high in the sky and a mosquito buzzing about, along with my phone buzzing a few times I felt I ought to be up. I did get up and looked at the moon and thought – something important is happening. It wasn’t until I looked at my iPad by 6:30am that I saw Scott’s message. ‘Is this kelly of the two sisters? / Scott from bc. / Looking to chat. Those messages came through at 2:33am so already my consciousness had been alerting me to something unusual happening.
Our conversation followed that we would need to talk more seriously about selling / buying the Two Sisters (2S). We will soon make a time to meet on FT while Scott is on 2S.
Work is needed on the foredeck – the Totara is getting tired. Scott is suggesting he replace it with yellow cedar of an exceptional quality and length. It’s a laid deck so there is no plywood sub deck. Using the same approach as Grandpa would keep the originality and having a little cedar will pay homage to her time in BC.
Of course, 2S’s value is beyond a financial one – and such values cannot be bought and sold. Money can’t buy love. It is just that our family has been presented with the great fortune of receiving her back home. Something Scott wants to see too – to finish the restoration (he has kept her in exceptional shape and wants to do her justice) as well as see the boat returned from where she originated.
